Puerto Rico Trip

In my role in federal government disaster assistance, I saw first hand the devastation wrought by Hurricane Maria. Touch economic times, hurricanes and other natural disasters have presented challenges there. It was a great blessing to bring a small team in the summer of 2018 and make a difference in the lives of individuals affected by Maria. We helped a local non-profit agency with painting and light construction for their facilities, work they were not able to do because of the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. We then went to a mountainous area to help a man with health issues who lived in a squalid house damaged by the Hurricane. We completely cleaned the house, repaired the roof and brought much needed hope and encouragement. When we finished work, there was a sizable pile of trash on the street. The man was in tears as he thanked us.
